Spirit School Press is a small-scale design, publishing, and distribution platform that focuses primarily on zines, art books, and creative formatting as a way to story-share works of individual journeys toward flourishing, liberation, and Becoming.

Our publications are grounded in the exposition of personal experience as a way to encourage communal and collective transformation. We hold an emphasis on intimate interior narratives that are exploring the lived experience of doings/undoings/redoings of self, systems, and spirituality because we believe that focusing on the inner life of one is a profound tool for expanding the inner lives of many.

It is our hope that these individual stories will ultimately yield external change and growth for our relationships to bodies, land, formation, vocation, and everything else that encompasses the Divine.

Because we live in a world where so much of what we share and consume with one another is mediated through the content held in and on screens, we are experimenting with wisdom-sharing through the centering our focus on the format of zines and short-form books.

We have chosen to align with a history of subversive, disruptive, anarchist, alternative media modality. We believe our form and methodology dance in the liminal space of bite-sized content which also settle into materiality by offering the ability to tangibly touch the expressions of our mindbodyspirits.

We offer our creatives accompaniment in producing emotionally evocative, visually compelling, and transformation inducing works of bound art.

We are currently accepting submission and encourage ideas that explore the themes of Self, Story, and Spirit—however you interpret what this means in your own life—through the use of poetry, prose, essays, photography, and other creative means of meaning-making and self-expression.

“It’s becoming increasingly clear to me that we get to a transformed world through the ways that we choose to practice our lives and make that known to the world around us. Decolonizing is ultimately an individual and mutative process. It’s the internal shifts, which are then viewed and perhaps internalized by others, that ripple out to our communities and serve to reshape the collective.”
